Abstract: REPORTING WARS: THE ONGOING CHALLENGES www.aut.ac.nz/study-at-aut/study-areas/communications/news-and-events AUCKLAND (AUT University: Pacific Media Watch): Reporting wars is the subject of two events at AUT University on Monday, May 24, 2010. What – War Reporting: The ongoing challenges When – May 24, 2010 4.30 – 6.45pm – screening of Balibo 7.15 – 9pm – seminar (refreshments from 6.45 pm) Where – AUT University Conference Centre, WA224, Wellesley Campus AUT’s Pacific Media Centre will host a special screening of the film Balibo about the killing of six journalists in East Timor in 1975. It will be followed by a Q&A session with one of the film's consultants, Tony Maniaty, who is also the author of the book Shooting Balibo and who was at Balibo shortly before the journalists were killed. Tony,of the Australian Centre for Independent Journalism (ACIJ) and a former ABC journalist, will provide New Zealanders with a personal perspective about this tragic episode in journalism history.
